After our Iceberg Lake hike, we returned to Canada, and made our way north towards the Kananaskis Region. Situated south of Banff National Park, the Kananaskis contains an impressive stretch of the Rockies, and we wished to experience a bit of it.

I booked a backcountry campsite high in the backcountry of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park - one of the main attractions in the Kananaskis Region. We embarked on a two-day backpacking trip, staying overnight at the Aster Lake backcountry campsite. We then climbed a peak on the nearby Continental Divide, called Warrior Mountain, and then descended back to our campsite and back out to the trailhead.

To round off our trip, we headed north from the Kananaskis Region to Banff National Park, where we rejoined with Cassándra and climbed lofty 11627ft (3544m) Mt Temple, along with several of her work colleagues. This was certainly a scenic and strenuous highlight of the trip - the climb involved a large amount of elevation gain as well as some scrambling sections.
