Giant Mountain is a very prominent mountain that rises up on the east side of Keene Valley. Its west face presents a very steep aspect with many interesting looking landslide scars. It is a short but quite steep climb to the summit of Giant from Keene Valley, but well worth it. A very nice alternative is the ascent via Giant's Washbowl/Nubble, and offers many excellent views. The summit is not completely bare but does have an excellent ledge that has an unobstructed view west to the central High Peaks. Another excellent way to summit Giant is at the end of a traverse-hike of Rocky Peak.
