A surprisingly nice little peak just to the northeast of Silver Lake. The southern face of the peak (which is itself long and ridgelike) sports many bold cliffs and ledges, which can be easily seen from the highway leading east out of Silver Lake. Consequently, most of the views on this low peak face south and east. Silver Lake Mountain's trail is short (less than 1 mile) but steep, climbing 700+ feet in that short distance. The upper part is dotted with ever-nicer open slabs, culminating in the aforementioned summit views to the south and east. Excellent during fall color season.
