Pitchoff Mountain is more of an elongated ridge just across the highway from Cascade Mountain. It has alot of rocky, scenic lookout knobs along this ridge, and, at the western end, there is a very nice open expanse of rock with huge erratic boulders perched here and there. There are excellent views down into Cascade Pass, across to Cascade Peak, of the MacIntyres, Whiteface, and eastwards into Vermont. Best done as a traverse with one car at the Cascade Mountain trailhead, and the other to the east of Cascade pass just a little ways down the hill. This is one scenic little hike! Excellent intro to the Adirondacks!
