Macomb Mountain is one of the 4 trailless peaks of the Dix Range. It has a treed summit with a good lookout ledge to tne north. Macomb Mountain is often climbed in a group with Hough, Grace (formerly East Dix) and South Dix. The route up Macomb Mountain is trailless and can be done either via a ridge connecting it to Dix, or via a herdpath route leading up from the trail to Elk Lake. The herdpath route leading up from the trail to Elk Lake more or less follows closely to Slide Brook (the turnoff is marked with a Cairn where Slide brook crosses the trail down below). The ascent goes up a very very nice open slide on Macomb's north face.
