Big Slide is an interesting peak for several reasons: It is uniquely shaped, with a very steep bald south face, giving it a distinctive asymmetric shape when viewed from the northeast or southwest. The summit is treed, but the south-facing summit ledge offers a commanding viewpoint of the entire Great Range (especially the impressive North Face of Gothics), Marcy, the MacIntyre Range, Mount Colden, and Giant Mountain. As well, the trail up from the east over the Brothers is excellent, with many beautiful open areas along the way.
