Baxter Mountain is a low summit in the crook of highway 9N and Route 73, just to the northeast of the town of Keene Valley. There are three main access trails to its summit, one from route 9N, and the others from Beede Road near the town of Keene Valley. Baxter sports a few nice southern ledges and is perfect for an easy short hike (especially from route 9N, where elevation gain is minimal). Excellent during fall color season.
