Towards the end of our return journey (or, close the the start of the
tunnels, if you are approaching from the other direction), there was a
particularly interesting tunnel complex - sort of a spiral loop, where
the tunnel gains elevation all in one place. There were several
portholes and side tunnels in this area, including one side tunnel that
goes to a vintage WWI cannon. very neat.
It was relatively late - dusk, almost - by the time we arrived back at our
starting point, and completing our long narrow loop. Overall, this
wasn't a particularly hard ferrata, and mostly it was hiking. But by
golly, it certainly was an impressive and scenic introduction to the
area!
