Snow Mountain is a very low peak that rises out of Keene Valley. It is, I suppose the last gasp of the Great Range as it peters out on its eastern end. Snow has a very excellent lookout just south of its summit. This lookout provides a unique and very aesthetically attractive view over southern Keene Valley, and includes views to Giant, Round, Noonmark, Dix, Dial, and Nippletop. The usual trail to the summit of Snow is not very long - approximately 2.3 km each way (1.7 miles), and there's only about 1250 feet of elevation gain. There is also a nice section along the banks of Deer Brook, with pretty cascades and such. Given the scenic beauty available with this trail, it serves as an excellent starter hike, or just a great way to fit in a couple of hours worth of hiking! Note: not to be confused with the nearly 4000-foot Snow Mountain in the Southern Adirondacks.
