Skylight is tucked away far from any trailhead. Although the peak is very broad and rounded, it is high (nearly 5000 feet) and has a significant chunk of above-treeline terrain. Positioned right next to Mount Marcy, Skylight offers an excellent and solitary summit experience. It is 30km (16 miles) round trip from the nearest trailhead to the summit. There is a large summit cairn, built by folks who believe that to not take a rock from below treeline to the summit is bad luck.
