Moose Mountain is the northern peak of the McKenzie Range of Mountains (the other being, of course, McKenzie Mountain). Moose is a little higher than its neighbour, and it has slightly better views, mainly owing to some decent views to the north and some close-up views to nearby Whiteface Mountain. Moose Mountain's trails are maintained by the Shore Owners Association (SOA) of Lake Placid. The two main avenues of access are via the Lake Trail along Lake Placid (and then up the Moose Mountain trail to the summit) or via the trail that runs along the ridge between it and McKenzie Mountain. The way up via the Moose Mountain trail offers the nice bonus of secluded little Loch Bonnie, nestled 900 feet below the summit of the mountain.
