Mount Colvin is the high point on a ridge extending northeast/southwest just south of the Ausable Lakes. Colvin's summit is mostly treed, but the small summit platform and a nearby ledge offer outstanding views. One can see directly down into Lower Ausable Lake, and also excellent views of the entire Great Range. To the south the views are less good. If approached from the east via the AMR lake road, one can detour up and over the excellent viewpoints of Indian Head and Fishhawk Cliffs.
