An easy return to 'twilight' hiking (a term coined during 2016's spate of three sunset/sunrise hikes), this time to the top of Mount Jo.

Twilight hikes work best when the distance (and therefore time) required to get from trailhead to summit is very short - hence the choice of Mount Jo. We departed from the ADK high peaks center parking lot shortly before 3pm and did the long loop up Mount Jo via the Rock Garden trail (even at that, it's pretty short). We arrived on the summit ledges shortly before 4pm, giving us twenty minutes or so to observe the sunset and subsequent twilight.

The conditions were great - calm and clear and some high clouds to [potentially] give great sunset color reflections. But no, the angle and/or nature of the sun's location and the clouds resulted in a fairly lackluster sunset and twilight. Nice enough, but not spectacular. Still, Mount Jo makes for an enoyable little stroll and we weren't at all unhappy with the subdued sunset scene.

Headlamps on for the quick direct (short variation) descent back to the trailhead and parking lot. Thirty minutes after standing on the summit ledges, we were back at the car.
