This quick image gallery documents a short morning at the International Pilot Academy in Carp Ontario (on February 9, 2013), where Jenn procured a "Pilot for a day" Groupon for me for my Birthday.
A very friendly Jules Selwan first gave me a brief bit of ground school. Then, we retrieved some headsets and headed into the hangar to meet our aircraft - a very clean-looking Cessna 172. After a bit of shoveling at the hangar entrance (we had just received a fresh accumulation of snow the day before), we rolled the plane out into the bright sunshine and were soon on our way.
The flight went smoothly and was quite enjoyable. Jules ran me through a few basic exercises - turns without rudder, crabbing, turns with rudder, ascending, descending. We returned to Carp and landed after about half an hour in the air.
Before departing, I thanked Jules for his time and friendliness. Who knows... maybe someday I'll consider joining their pilot school.
Thanks also to Jenn for this great birthday gift. Much appreciated.
Note: you'll no doubt notice that the above trackmap is missing a chunk. Looks like somehow my GPS lost lock during a segment of the flight (about 10 minutes' worth).
