Sunday - the day of the birthday party - dawned sunny and clear. Perfect weather for my Mom's special day. While my Dad watched his morning TV and my sister Elvira practiced her power walking out on the street, final preparations got underway for the party's backyard venue. Dan and Rene were in charge of the main courses of food, and they were efficiently preparing a very large quantity of grilled vegetables and meats on no less than three of the neighbours' barbeques.
By about 2pm, guests started to arrive. George had been busy with the invite list: In addition to several of my parent's neighbours, he had managed to contact several of my mothers friends around Bathurst, including [Person X] and [Person Y] (Geo, could you please fill in?). George even managed to invite the mayor to make a special visit and present my mother with a special City of Bathurst happy birthday certificate!
