Whiteface
Hurricane Mountain's summit offers a very nice view (probably the best possible) of Whiteface mountain. The olympic ski runs are easily visible in the winter. [enlarge]

doing some more posing on the summit for me. [enlarge]

The High Peaks
This shot looks towards the core of the high peaks region. Mount Marcy is the highest peak in New York state (at 5300+ feet), and is visible left of center. Alqonquin peak is the high mount to the right of center, also above 5000 feet, and is the second highest peak in New York state. Many other great hiking mountains are also visible in this shot, including Gothics and Haystack. [enlarge]
Southern High Peaks
Looking more to the south, We can see a few more of the high peaks, including Dix, Colvin, and Nippletop. [enlarge]
Vertical, Algonquin
A more zoomed-in vertical shot of Algonquin peak. [enlarge]
Winter??
I thought that it might be neat to bring along a hiking snack that one could never bring along at any other time of year - ice cream bars. Except the day was so nice that the temperature in my pack must have been a bit above zero, and so my ice cream bars were melting - on a day in the middle of February at the top of a mountain in the Adirondacks! [enlarge]
Ewart and ice cream
Ewart gives one a try anyway - gooooooey! [enlarge]
Self Contemplation
A shot of myself contemplating what a good day this was to go on a hike. [enlarge]
Summit as Tripod
Not having my tripod with me, and knowing that when taking zoom shots any movement makes for a crap picture, I decided to use terra firma as a tripod. Everybody found it humorous to watch my antics..... [enlarge]
Summit as tripod, Part I
I know... it looks weird. But it gets the job done. [enlarge]
I am not alone.
Ewart is also busy snapping pictures. [enlarge]
Starting down
Ewart and Lorraine (gee, I wonder who feels colder?) just before starting down. [enlarge]
