I (and possibly Luke) am/are feeling a little starved and anxious for the good twisties, and now that we are in West Virginia, I make a beeline for the closest possible good twisty that I've identified. The backroad, designated WV-46, starts off with uneven, rough pavement, but no matter: within ten minutes, we've encountered two super tight hairpins and we've gotten the back ends to come around a little on each. yee-haw....!
The day is drawing on, and I charted a course that hit a mix of a bit of new stuff and bit of the known good bits we first visited back in 2008. We stopped at the Frank Long Centennial Park lookout over the hills of Northern West Virginia, just like we did back in 2008. It even felt a bit fall-like once again, too - with a broad windswept field of high golden grass against a sun hanging low in the west.

Breezy, bright top-down Motoring
From the breezy lookout, a final set of intermittently good twisties south on US-219 brought us to the small city of Elkins, West Virginia - also a place we stayed on our last eastern road-trip. I had tried to find reasonable accommodations in other parts of northern West Virginia, but I kept finding the best combination of price and location always ended up being in Elkins. So, Elkins it was - this time at the Super 8 on the southern outskirts of town.
