We then took a brief tour through the main hall of Grand Canyon Lodge (very impressive rustic architecture on the inside, too), before meeting up at the North Rim's visitor center store. Here Chris and I jointly purchased a copy of "Death in the Grand Canyon" - a book covering all of the known fatalities that have occurred within Grand Canyon National Park. Some may think this a morbid sort of thing, but in fact it is very useful (and enlightening) to understand the factors (usually peoples' mistakes) that contribute to incidents.

Our route
By now it was closing in on noontime, and it was time to start thinking about moving on (to the Zion area). I had Chris drive me back to the campground, where I then used the 12-passenger van to return and fetch the others. After returning to camp and packing up, we began our journey northward out of the park.
