We then began a wonderful traverse of the ridge, heading westward along it (by the way, according to the topo map that I have, the ridge itself is called 'Il Fil'). We had not yet reached the highpoint along the ridge, and so we occasionally had a bit of climbing to do. The view along the ridge when the sun came out was great -- there's nothing quite like a beautiful open walk along a ridge with big dropoffs (even if in this case the big dropoff was only on one side).

It wasn't long before we reached the highpoint of the ridge, a broad flat spot, at nearly 2700m (8850 feet), it was also the highest so far on our trip (and also Asmir's highest ever hike). The clouds had fortunately retreated somewhat, and we had beautiful crystal clear views to all of the rugged higher peaks to the north.

Next was the short walk over to the top lift station of the series of lifts that would take us all the way back down to Flims. Fortunately the terrain was as described in my notes: there was only the most modest of slight hills to descend along the ridge before we arrived at the top lift station. Asmir's and Miriam's knees were spared from any agony today.

Cablecar down
Snack at Alp Naraus
The cablecar rides down were fun and, as is to be expected, quite unstrenuous. We stopped for a snack at a restaurant at one of the intermediate lift stations, enjoying some mid-afternoon desserts and drinks. Unbeknownst to me, I left my hiking map, map holder, and Alpine Club card at the restaurant. Most unfortunate of the three was my alpine club card, which entitled me to substantial discounts at alpine huts in Italy, and which I fully intended to use.
Nearing Flims
We arrived back down at Flims at about 4:30pm, giving us plenty of time for a 20 minute drive back to the flat and a relaxed evening of dinner, games, and wine tasting.
