We were 'over the hump' now, with most of the presentations and sessions now behind us. Going to lectures and sessions for ten hours a day means that your brain fills up quickly -- visions of code fragments, scripting languages, JSR-this, JSR-that -- it all kind of melts together!

The social event of the conference was an evening party held in the conference dining hall, which was converted into a huge dark nightclub-like space. The theme of the event was "retro-weird-science", with staff dressed in white lab coats, large wall-hangings with silkscreens of old science-fiction comic books, remote-controlled robots serving appetizers, science parlor tricks displays, and projections of retro-science-like graphics and video clips onto huge screens.
Scattered around the hall were various attractions: a bungee-cord like apparatus that you could strap yourself into; an arcade; a circus-like shooting gallery; and a one-on-one video game match area where you could pit yourself against a particularly famous video game player called 'Fatal1ty' (everybody I watched try to play against him lost horribly).
Making guest appearances at the After Dark bash were "The Mythbusters" -- Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman - two guys from a popular TV Science show that is shown here in Canada on the Discovery Channel. If you've ever watched Mythbusters, you probably know what a fun and interesting show its. It was an unexpected treat to be able to see them in person. In fact, I even got to say hi, shake their hands, and to have them serve me my drink!
