This next set of pictures contain images from our climb of Mount Arrowsmith via the Judges Route. Note: the trailhead is located BELOW all the switchbacks on the pass main logging road. The trail starts off by going up an old side logging road. See the photo info details of the photo at the trailhead for detailed latitude and longitude information, along with a satellite map with a pointer.

Judge's Route Trailhead
This is the little side-road off of Pass Main that is the start of the Judges Route. It is a very obvious little road, but there are many little side roads, and this one has minimal markings to let you know it is the right one. Please look at my GPS data to make sure you get the right waypoint for this spot.

At the end of the side logging road, a distinct path leads very steeply uphill through mature forest. The path is in great shape, and switches back and forth up the steep slope. Eventually the trail starts to break out into the open, but it is still fairly obvious to follow.

A gap to the east
This is a shot looking through a gap that cuts across the main north-south ridge on mount Arrowsmith. You can see the strait of Georgia and the Coast ranges far off to the northeast.

Eventually the main ridgeline separating north from south is reached (and with it, great views). the route goes right and up here, and very shortly reaches the subsummit. This is where the nose route joins in from the north. It is a very short 5 minute hike and scramble to the summit from here.

Weird Subsummit rocket thing
This is one of the two strange rocket-like devices on Arrowsmith. This one is on a lower subsummit. As you can see, it has a door and solar panels. we are not sure what purpose it serves.

Looking down on the Nose
This is a shot looking directly down on the nose route. Yesterday, we climbed to within 50 feet of this very point (but in the clouds).

"The Bumps"
This is a shot, taken from near the summit of Arrowsmith, looking back along the route we took yesterday when we tried to do the nose route. The approach to the nose follows the main ridgeline you see in this picture, over all of the rounded bumps.
