LORRAINE GAINS CONFIDENCE.
At this point Lorraine has really gotten the hang of things (literally, since she has just come off of an overhanging ladder), and is now motoring along towards the end of the technical portion of the route. [enlarge]
BIVACCO
This shot looks down towards the end of the Via Ferrata. A bright orange Bivacco (bivouac) hut is visible below. These huts are unmanned and seem to be always open. If I had known, It would have been very neat to stay in one (this one had a 5 bunk capacity). [enlarge]
JOURNEY BACK
Heading back to our campsite after a long but satisfying day. [enlarge]
ROSENGARTEN GROUP
This is a view of the Rosengarten group, wreathed in early morning clouds, as taken from our third Via Ferrata outing. [enlarge]
Looking north
An impressive-looking massif of rock lies to the north of us. [enlarge]

LA MARMOLADA
This shot look northeast-wards towards the highest mountains of the dolomites. The highest, the Marmolada, is visible just right of center (3342 m, 10,965 feet). There is even a fair-sized glacier on this mountain. [enlarge]
POZZA DI FASSA
The community of Pozza di Fassa, as seen from the summit of Cima Dodeci. The Rosengarten group rises in the background. [enlarge]
ANDREW, NEAR SUMMIT OF SASS AUT
What looked like a really death-defying bit of Via Ferrata turns out to be airy, but not that hard. [enlarge]
CIMA DODECI
This is a view back towards Cima Dodeci from near the Summit of Sass Aut. [enlarge]
BRIAN, SUMMIT, SASS AUT
This is a shot of Brian, reaping the rewards (a fantastically beautiful view) of his day's labour atop the summit of Sass Aut. The Rosengarten group rises in the background. This area is one of the most spectacular I have been to (and from what I can tell, there are even nicer areas in other parts of the dolomites). [enlarge]
OUR ROUTE DOWN SASS AUT.
This picture shows Sass Aut in the background (Center), along with the deep cleft we used to come down off of it. The trail then wanders up the center of the picture towards the camera. Brian is a small speck along the trail. [enlarge]
SASS AUT
Another view of the summit of Sass Aut, this time taken from a nearby summit. [enlarge]
