Swimming starts early today
In many ways, this was a lot like our first day at North Swallow - except we had hiked here instead of getting a boat ride. An early arrival, a warm day with lots of lounging about, and a lot of swimming. The little micro-cove helped keep the Lake Superior water fairly warm. Gino and Alana went around to the "large beach" to suntan (the other hikers had left, and no one seemed to have shown up for camping at FC1, so it was empty, too).

Slowly, ever so slowly, high clouds began to creep overhead, and by about 5pm, we started to get a few sprinkles. We decided to put up our rain tarp as heavier-looking clouds started to move in. We even started hearing some strangely discorded low rumbling. We dismissed it as something other than thunder for a while, but eventually accepted that thunder is actually what it was, although something about the Lake Superior Coastline's acoustics made it sound strange to us.

A menacing-looking cloud deck drifted overhead as the thunder got louder. Over dinner it began to rain a bit more, but never very heavily or continuously. By the time we had finished dinner, the worst of it had moved on and we emerged onto a now raindrop-spattered sand beach. A bit of late evening yoga rounded out the day.
