The warm afternoon sunshine encouraged several of us (but not me, as I found the water to be cold regardless of what the air temperature was) to go for a swim. Following this, Juju took Kai and Nel out for some solo kayaking lessons in the calm shallow waters just off of our campsite.

Members of the Tseshaht nation then showed up once again, giving us another cultural session on the beach. We learned of several interesting points of interest around the broken group, including several on Benson and Clarke island (which unfortunately we had already visited). There was also mention of "the face" - a recent discovery etched on a rock wall on nearby Reek Island. This sounded interesting, and we managed to obtain some detailed information that would help us if we wanted to go and visit it.

Kai and Nel, having been competing with each other for the maximum number-of-Andrew-hugs-in-a-day, go completely into overdrive, nearly smothering me to death in the process. It is a good thing that Arn and Gosia do not have three or four kids; I do not believe I would have survived. Kai then managed to convince me to let him do the photography for the next little while, and while he had a hard time keeping the camera level, he managed to get several nice shots.

After dinner, we had another nice little birthday ceremony for Nel. Her grandmother gave her a wonderful little butterfly pin and and accompanying letter. There aren't many grandmother-granddaughter birthday presents that are delivered in person on a backcountry kayaking trip, of that I am sure!

Following the birthday ceremonies, we played a few iterations of Arn's "lying dice" game, which is essentially an exercise in out-bluffing your opponents. This brought us to a wonderful sunset and the end of another fine day. With Arn's admittedly-competent fire-building skills, we were able to ward off the evening chill and enjoy the developing twilight.
