Most of the people sitting around me in the van were British military personnel, on a vacation while being stationed in exchange positions with the US military on the east coast. Moreover, they were Harrier fighter pilots and maintenance technicians - very cool. I discovered that these same guys were visiting Ribbon Falls at exactly the same time that we were the day before. In fact, you can see a few of them off to the side in one of my Ribbon Falls pictures.
Meanwhile, back at the North Rim, the crew decided to take a short wander over to a section of the North Rim, only a few hundred yards to the west of our campsite. Here they took in the grand view above The Transept - a deep side-canyon that cuts into the Kaibab Plateau. After spending some time at this view, they returned to camp, only to return an hour or so later to catch the approaching sunset.

My shuttle reached the small community of Cameron, then turned west onto Highway 64, the road leading back towards Grand Canyon National Park. Soon, we reached the park boundary, and shortly thereafter, the shuttle operator dropped me off at Desert View - probably shortly before 6 p.m. Our rental van was waiting dutifully, and soon I was driving back east. Twilight arrived and soon faded into night, meaning most of my drive back was in the dark. I arrived back at our North Rim campsite sometime after 9pm. Vehicle transfer operation completed successfully.
