With the shadows getting long, and with more than 25 kilometres (15 miles) under our belts, we figured it was time to get moving. It was only a short 25 minute walk back to the Wolverine trailhead, and the end of a very full and well-earned day of hiking!

More Cattle

Brian and I went off to fetch the other rental car vehicle. We arrived just as Dave and Allen were heading off in their own vehicle. They once again showed us their generosity: they said to look for a 'surprise' at our vehicle. Sure enough, two fruit-bar strips were underneath our wiper blades. Nice guys!

After returning with the vehicles and packing up our gear, we headed back north on the Wolverine Loop road. Our itinerary would now take us north and east to Capitol Reef National Park, where we would spend some time on a hike to visit a big, impressive arch.

It took us about an hour and a half to drive north towards Capitol Reef, and it was now fully dark out. Owing to lateness, laziness, and expediency, we decided to forego the campground for the evening and stayed at a Red Rock Inn motel in Torrey, just outside the park. We had a late dinner at the little pizza / bar just down from the motel (which fortunately for us stayed open until 10pm).
