Jenn felt that this year's Biennale had less 'angry art', which pleased her, but there was still much commentary on what ails the world today, including much about war and conflict.

Statue, Giardini Entrance

This way to the Arsenale

After giving the Giardini a quick but thorough once-over, we walked the short distance over to the Arsenale. There, a huge L-shaped building, called the 'Corderie', houses most of the artworks. Just as interesting as the works of art is the building itself: inside, a one-thousand foot long open space bordered by monumental ancient-looking brick pillars form the backdrop for the exhibits. It was once one of the main buildings involved in the building of the immense and powerful venetian fleet. I knew it was old, but I did not realize it was 500 years old until I looked it up!
