As dusk fell, our little introduction-to-Venice for Pu drew to a close,
and we walked back via a direct route towards the train station. Along the way, we stopped to eat at a delightful little seafood-oriented
restaurant - the Ristorante Da Gianni. Sitting outside on a table in the
wide street, Pu fell in love with his seafood pasta dish - and has been
mentioning it ever since!
Pleasantly satiated, we ambled back through darkened streets, passing by
the jewish ghetto area, where a rowdy crowd was singing outside some sort
of establishment. It was a shame to have to return to the world of
wheels.
Back at our room in Mestre, the old air-conditioner had made the room barely sleepable,
and draped in a minimum of bedsheets, we managed to get a reasonable sleep
in.
