Our hike back north along the base of the Civetta massif was pleasant
enough, but relatively uneventful. We did have one small snowfield to
cross along the way.
The weather seemed even cloudier than yesterday,
and as we walked past the ascent route of the Alleghesi route, which we
had just been on the day before, we could see that the cloud deck had
already formed and was much lower than yesterday. The black dots of
several climbing groups could be seen climbing the route. Even though we
now knew that the route wasn't really that hard, it still looked mighty
impressive from a distance!
We stopped for lunch at the rifugio Coldai on the way back, where I ordered a
very tasty dish of gnocchi. After lunch, it was a short downhill hike to
the grassy Col dei Baldi and the top chairlift. We were back at the cars
by 2pm. A solid outing that had been, to be sure!
