We followed a path that contoured back along, outside, back to the main cell block entrance. Much of the island is in disrepair and in ruins; the view across to San Francisco is simply stunning.

Upon arriving back in San Francisco proper, we wandered over to the Chinatown district. Jenn was quite interested in seeing what was reportedly the largest Chinatown in North America. It was indeed quite big and quite ethnic - many of the buildings' architecture was of chinese design, right down to the rooftop detail. We wandered around for a while, stopping for some dim sum at a tiny local eatery, and doing a bit of shopping at various stores.

We dropped Chris off at the airport on Sunday morning - he was heading back to Ottawa; Jenn and I were staying for 4 more days, and we hoped to head out of town to get a couple of days of mountain hiking under our belt. If you are interested in reading about that adventure, click here. Otherwise, thanks for reading about our visit to San Francisco.
