The Superstition Mountains. This area west of Pheonix has some fantastically interesting mountains - the Superstitions. Made famous for the legend of the Lost Dutchman mine, the area is full of old explorer's legends. The hiking is excellent, with lots of interesting rugged trails, and only minutes from a major metropolitan area.

After the Superstition wilderness, we head north to the Colorado Plateau, with the hope of eventually ending up somewhere near the Grand Canyon. Our next big outing will be the Grand Canyon Backpack! Along the way, we stop in the scenic resort town of Sedona, Arizona.
