A trail! A packed trail... what a difference it makes to hike along a packed trail! It felt like a treat, a reward, for the tedious toil on the way up.

We cruised back downhill at perhaps 3 or 4 times the speed of our ascent, making it down to the base of the mountain in perhaps only 30 minutes.

Ups and Downs
Once at the base of the mountain, we turned north and began the hour-long walk along the flat and over and around the small hills, back to the trailhead.

Early morning arrival
We made it back to the trailhead a quarter before 10 a.m. That's pretty early as our Adirondack hikes go, and it felt weird to be packing up and driving off at a time not much later than our usual hike start times. But nice, too. We had completed a fun hike and still had most of the day ahead of us!

Thanks to everyone for getting up so early, and thanks to Gino for helping out with the trail breaking.
