Very funny, Graeme....I, of course, started laughing right from the start of your post when you say "if I had come on that hike..."  The last time I checked Hell is still above zero degrees celcius.

Felt like I was there. Great read. Of course I had of come on that hike...I would have stopped to fish that river and never left. Probably would have been super worried about you guys taking so long - hiked up in the dark out of panic...found the lost snowshoe and howled at the breaking moon with grief. You guys would have thought there were wolves on the trail and turned back. Probably best I wasn't there.

Looks like a challenging day ... but  the photos made me feel like I wished I were there!

Actually it is six more... since the NE 111 is actually 115.  To my recollection, the remaining ones are:

  • Moosilauke
  • Zealand
  • Adams
  • Jefferson
  • Washington
  • Hamlin

Nice report guys ... I'm extremely surprised you had to do all the breaking you had to do ... obviously this one was a lot tougher than usual, tougher than perhaps you thought!  Was thinking of putting together a Pierce-Jackson Loop hike in March, hoping to find the Crawford Path and the Webster-Jackson Trail more traveled than you found?
