The way down was relatively uneventful, except for Scott's sliding adventures. The trippiness of the MSR Lightnings he was using combined with this being the first time for him on snowshoes makes for several uncontrolled slides down the thin and hard snowpack. Fortunately, all turned out well. Perhaps the next time I'll lend him my Denali snowshoes (which are far less prone to catching on each other).

Somewhere along this stretch, my sunglasses managed to get knocked off my hat. We Were on a bit of schedule for getting back, so I decided to continue on without going back to look for them.

The day had noticeably warmed and cleared by the time we made it back down to gentler terrain. Most of us removed the snowshoes and walked back down the last little bit of path to the paved road.

Seemed like everyone had a pretty enjoyable time on this hike, and I think the alternate route provided more varied and interesting terrain. Thanks to everyone for being such an accommodating and cheery bunch. I think this bodes well for a good ADK hike in the near future!
