Near the top, the slope eases considerably, and it is a short walk through the forest to the first of several lookouts that ring the western edge of King Mountain's summit. The gloriously clear and crisp day and the lack of wind gave us great conditions with which to take in the nice view of the flats of the Ottawa Valley stretching away below us.

After a suitable time enjoying our summit view (well, not actually the summit view, since we were technically not on the very highest point of the mountain), we decided to head back. We retraced our steps in very short order, having a bit of fun on the steep bits of the descent (Chris and Andy have very differing descent styles).

We made our way back from the lookout to the trailhead in a quick forty minutes, for a total round-trip time of not much more than two hours. Good outing, guys, and from what I can tell so far, everyone had a great time. Hopefully everyone's stoked for more!
