Technically, the Safford Brook trail doesn't end at Flagstaff road. Instead, it continues for another 0.3 miles to the campground and the lake. For completeness's sake, we decided to finish this last bit of the trail. The fact that the views from the lakeshore are super-scenic didn't hurt either!
The views from the shore of Flagstaff Lake were indeed spectacular, and we could look back at the high, frosted peaks we had just done. As Jenn stated "it's amazing how far your feet will take you". Amen to that!
Below are a few more scenic shots of the Bigelow Range that we took on the drive out. It truly is a little gem of a range, full of variety and interesting scenery. Most defnitely recommended - just don't tell too many of your friends!
