Beautiful open alpine terrain - the stuff I love. We have the summit to ourselves and enjoy lunch on a fine but hazy Saturday.

On the way down, the snowy terrain gives way to some icy trail and then to completely bare ground. Very neat to see the effect of elevation on temperature and precipiation in such a dramatic way. Soon we are at the Glencliff trailhead and the end of our hike. Roughly 12.5km and 6 and a half hours of hiking. Not too long, really! We managed an average speed of just under 2.0km/hr and gained a total of just under 3000 feet.
Really thick ice on trail
Another amazing transition
Beautiful fields to end the hike
