September 12, 2023 - GTS Chronicles Workstation
Bored at work, impatient about our cars. I set up a set of nice backgrounds for my multi-monitor display. If you've read the trip report, you'll probably recognize these shots!
Around this same time, Luke pens some thoughts about how it feels to wait a second time for our cars. Here's an excerpt:
Luke's Thoughts
[on waiting a second time...]
The second anticipation is quite different to the first, I'm finding. The car is a known quantity now, personally experienced and enjoyed for nearly a month on the twisty tarmac of those amazing European roads. So I know what I'm missing out on while the summer - and now fall - slips away. Makes the wait somewhat more agonizing.
It really is disappointing not to be able to collect them in Halifax as originally planned, but no cooperation from our dealer on that front, despite us KNOWING that Porsche does this. Instead, I shall have to hope for delivery at the dealership in time before the weather turns. I have a key right here! Let me go get it right now!

September 13, 2023 - Hurricane Coming!
Hurricane Lee was coming! As Luke and I impatiently waited for the Boxster and Cayman GTSes to be loaded on a train, we caught wind of a storm barreling up from the south: Hurricane Lee. By September 8th, it had reached category 5 and the track was starting to look like it might directly hit Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia! Where our cars were sitting, out in the open, waiting to be transported. Forecasters were projecting landfall in Nova Scotia sometime around September 16th.
But thankfully, mercifully, on September 13th, Luke noticed movement. First, the Boxster - it showed as moving to a location directly in line with a railway spur. A very good sign.
September 13, 2023 - The Boxster is loaded onto a train at the Halifax AutoPort.
The Cayman, however, did not move along with Boxster. I kept asking Luke to refresh, get an update on the Cayman. Nothing. No movement. They wouldn't ship the Boxster out on the train and leave the Cayman, would they? I figured I'd send a message to Porsche Canada, see if they had any intel. I sent a message to our ED contact, Michael Maternicki. He got back to me right away:
Good morning Andrew, Hope you are keeping well! Halifax port has been seeing very high volumes over the last few months and is congested, which leads to higher than normal shipping times after a vessel unloads. I've been informed that they are actually expected to ship out today. ETA to Porsche Centre London at this time is first week of October, however I will continue to keep an eye on both to make sure they move as quickly as possible. I've added Christina in cc so she is aware as well. Have a great day! Best regards
ok, so positive news. But I wanted to see something concrete from the Airtags. The Hurricane was coming!
And then, finally, the Cayman was moved (or at least it had been detected as moved, because of course the Airtag's location is dependent on the nearby presence of a network-capable Apple device).

You may allow yourself a small sigh of relief, as your car is now appearing next to mine.
September 13, 2023: The Cayman GTS 4.0 is now on a train. Now let's get the hell out of Halifax!

I see. So not really together, but probably on the train (in a different train car)

Well yes
From: Andrew Lavigne - Sep 14, 2023, 9:31 PM
Right. Well, if Michael's info is to be believed, we should see the train start rolling any time now.
And indeed we did. The next morning - the morning of September 15th - we got a ping from the Cayman at a level railroad crossing on the northern outskirts of Halifax. The GTS Chronicles were clickety-clackety-ing their way north towards New Brunswick. And safely ahead of Hurricane Lee, which crossed over the Halifax area on September 16th - one day later. We were very glad our cars were safely in an enclosed railcar travelling north out of harm's way.
On September 16, 2023, Hurricane Lee made landfall over Nova Scotia. Fortunately, our cars had left the Halifax Autoport the morning before, and at the time were safely aboard an enclosed railcar somewhere in Northern New Brunswick, far away from the damaging parts of the storm.
