Mother's Day
Sunday, May 12
By fortunate coincidence, mother's day fell within the bounds of our Italy Trip, and we were able to celebrate my mother's, my aunt's, and my cousins' mothers day, all together. Filomena once again very graciously escorted us out, this time to a local flower shop, where we picked out some beautiful flowers and potted plants -- then did a suprise reveal back at Zia Rosetta's place.

For mother's day lunch, we went out to a favorite local Avellino Eatery - Da Ciccio - a place my relatives have been frequenting for decades and decades. They have a regional specialty called Baccala` - a salted cod dish. Giovanni insisted that we try some.

The food was indeed excellent, but .... service was a tad slow. We entered the restaurant at about 1:30pm and we didn't get out 'till what... 4:30pm or so?

The rest of the afternoon and early evening was taken up with entertaining some relatives that came to visit us at my aunt's house. Especially cute were the impromptu poem performances by my young cousins Anna Laura and Mica.
