About 30 minutes before reaching the car, a cloud bank rolled in and the sun set. The combination meant we were walking around in a virtual fog, with the tinkling of cowbells all around us. This led to some encounters of the bovine kind, with big square bodies suddenly looming out of the mist ahead of us. One of them even tried to lick me to death - an experience I would describe as having twenty cat tongues licking you at once.

With the assistance of my trusty GPS unit, we maintained a direct course back through the murk to the car, arriving at 8:30pm, over 9 hours after we started. I felt bad that the perfect first half our day had been marred by a poor descent route choice. Hopefully as time passed, everyone remembered mostly the good stuff!
