The Rifugio Canalone

For experts only!
A sign warns 'only for expert alpinists' ... which of course makes Jenn feel a little uncomfortable! [enlarge]
Start of Ferrata Canalone
This is the start of the Ferrata Canalone (rated a 4A in the Cicerone guidebook). The route, as you can see from this picture, goes straight up the sharp arete of rock. [enlarge]

A ferrata junction
This is a junction, ferrata-style. When you get to this point, turn left (downwards) to complete the loop back to the start of the Ferrata. The other way goes up the mountain somewhere. [enlarge]
Down over braids
The route now descends downward over unsual braided wire. [enlarge]
Are you really happy?
Jenn is smiling, but inside she is feeling a bit freaked, I think! [enlarge]
