Help - Main Tool Bar
The main tool bar is situated above the display of gear items, and contains several controls. These controls allow you to perform the following operations:

Hiding Items
The Hide button hides (removes from view) any gear items that have the 'Mark Items as Hidden' checkbox checked. This allows you to customize the gearlist for situations where you do not need or require a particular item.

Showing Hidden items
The Show All button displays (brings into view) any hidden gear items (ie. gear items that have been hidden using the Hide button). Any hidden items displayed as a result of this operation will still have the Mark Items as Hidden checkbox checked. If you then wish to keep the items visible even if the Hide button is selected again, uncheck the Mark Items as Hidden checkbox.

Restricting the Display of Items to a Particular Trip Type
The Trip Type selector allows you to select from several predefined trip types. Selecting a trip type will display a set of gear items that might be suitable for that type of trip. Please note that requirements and preferences vary, and so the choices may not correspond exactly to what you need. In that case, you may use the profile functionality to customize and extend the set of gear items.

Selecting the 'all' trip type will display all public (ie. not part of a profile) gear items known to the system.

Creating a Printable Version of the Gear List
The Printable Version button creates a presentation of the gear list suitable for printing on a printer. The presentation is opened in a new window, and is styled as follows:

  • The list is colored so that it prints legibly with black&white output.
  • The time and date of generation of the list are displayed at the top of the screen.
  • Any items with the Mark Items as Hidden checkbox checked are not displayed.
  • The Mark Items as Hidden Checkboxes are replaced with two [non-interactive] checkboxes : Have and Packed. The intent is for these two checkboxes to be used on the printed copy of the gear list to check off items that you need to acquire, and items that you have acquired and are packed and ready to go.
