In part, the Porsche 959 was built as a road-going version of an all-conquering off-roader for the famous Paris-Dakar rally race. This is an example of that race version of the 959 - The Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar. These days, a modern interpretation of this car is for sale: the 992-generation 911 Dakar model.
