The mountains come close to Salzburg. This view, from the partway up the hill upon which the Hohensalzburg castle is located, looks south towards the Berchtesgaden Alps. The high peak seen is known as the Unterberg, 1972m / 6470'. The Hallein Salt Mine is located under the foothills on the left.
