Before the Dam
Buttle Lake's level was raised in 1958 due to a dam constructed downstream of nearby Upper Campbell Lake, resulting in a rise of 8.5 m (30-ish feet). Before the rise, large sections of old-growth forest were logged. Now, with the exceedingly low water levels in the lake, a forest of stumps has emerged from the waters.
