Starting Ascent
The eastern start of the Rocky Peak traverse is at a very low altitude, by Adirondack High Peaks Region standards: only 650 feet ASL. This shot shows the first bit of ascent from that low start. Over 5,000 feet of gain from here until we finally reach the highest point, atop Giant Mountain.
