This is the open flower of Jimson Weed (aka Devil's Snare or Sacred Datura). Its latin name is datura stramonium, and it is a member of the nightshade family. The flowers open at night and close during the day (this one is probably still open because it is in the shade). It produces strongly hallucinogenic alkaloids, and apparently it is very easy to fatally overdose on them.
