Dramatic Inner Gorge
A dramatic view of the inner gorge, as seen from a point partway up from Phantom Ranch on the Clear Creek Trail. The jagged, streaked and marbled texture of the metamorphic basement rocks is readily apparent here. Above, underneath equally dramatic skies, the south rim at Mather, Yavapai, and Yaki points is visible. Note the well-defined path of the lower South Kaibab Trail on the opposite side of the rivier.
