A tangled mess
An especially wet and heavy snowfall from December 21 of this season has rendered much of the higher country in Gatineau Park like the scene in this picture - a nearly impenetrable blockade of bent and fallen branches and trunks, all covered in a thick layer of clingy snow. In fact, much of Gatineau Park's famed cross-country ski network is still unfit for skiing nearly three weeks later. It will take many more weeks of concerted trail-clearing efforts to get everything back to normal. We are about to carefully bushwhack our way through this tangle!
