This is an Icelandic "F-Road" sign at the beginning of the western end of highway F576. F-roads are also known as "Mountain Roads", and you are supposed to have a 4WD vehicle to drive on them. Fortunately, we do. The strict translation of the sign? "Ill-Faring Road".
